Many people in our field said it couldn’t be done. We were told it would cost a fortune and take years.

Well, they were partially right. It’s here, we did it — it works! Below are some of the amazing results this technology has already proven. We can only give you a taste of what this process could do for your products and your business. The uses are endless. We have already explored racing, corrosion resistance, tool hardening, gear hardening and micro crack repair. We are in discussions using our technology in medical equipment and electronics. The technology is so new, that our heads are spinning with the possibilities.

Before we describe what ION IMPLANTATION is, let us first say what it is not—-It is NOT A COATING!

ION IMPLANTATION uses high energy to bombard particles deep into other molecules. Metal Ions into metals or ceramics or glass (and other amorphous materials) or plastics. This is the latest development in surface engineering. It can give plastics the characteristics of metals, insulators into conductors, and give treated and exotic metal formulas more strength and better wear characteristics. You can see why this is such a great leap in the science.

METAL ION IMPLANTATION uses high energy to bombard individual metal atoms deep into other surfaces.

Ions into metals, glass, ceramics, carbide, plastic or any other solid material.

This is the leading edge of surface engineering. It can give huge increases in the surface characteristics of metals and other materials, such as increasing hardness, fatigue life, and even increase tensile strength. It can improve surface conductivity of plastics and ceramics, and allow for catalyst behavior in materials for a fraction of the cost and material. By implanting chromium, for example, we can add corrosion resistance to almost any material. Easy to see why this is such a great leap in the field of surface engineering.

METAL ION IMPLANTATION IS NOT A COATING.

We are using high energy metal ions embedded in the material to ~ 1 micron. It is suitable for work-hardened or heat-treated metals and other materials. Because it is inside the base material, there is no dimensional change from the process and no need to re-machine parts.
With our beam implanting to a field of 8 sq. ft., it makes it possible to take this process to a large production scale and Tribo is ready.

By far, the world’s largest. We can implant any conductive metal including heavy metals such as nickel, tungsten, titanium, chromium, platinum and silver. Our continuing research will attempt many other materials as we refine our science. Various metals can be implanted into a single part to add new and specific characteristics desired using our unique process.

For example, in a gear life test comparing untreated, shot peened and implanted carburized gears, we saw a 25x increase in gear life from implantation over the untreated piece. Ion Implanted Tungsten carbide drills and endmills have seen 300% increases in lifetime and greater while cutting a variety of materials. Results were similar for steel and other high strength metals.
